Afro-Asian Institute has Organized a seminar titled ‘Drug Prevention Awareness Seminar 2023′ to spread awareness amongst the students about drugs abuse, the harmful effects they cause to our mental, physical, social, and economic lives, their illegality and the fierce enforcement taking place for countering the narcotics in Pakistan. For the said purpose, Sibgha Barkat Clinical Psychologist at Focus Rehab & WAB Therapeutics was the guest Sibgha Barkat firstly, gave the introduction of the DPA and the countering areas where the DPA is deployed on the ground. She then shared certain alarming facts and figures about the drug’s production and usage. She highlighted the several causes that are observed in the young generations to go towards drug addiction.
The main reason includes weakness in faith, depression, peer pressure, unintentional dependency on medicines, and lack of self-control, over experience and to enhance performance. She imperatively held the strengthening of faith as the effective solution for curbing drug abuse. She made recommendations of self believe, Self-control, reduction in communication gaps, strong family bonding, self-awareness, and involvement in healthy activities as a workable way out to counter the drugs inclination. She suggested treating a drug addict as a patient and always being empathetic for his/her rehabilitation process and also suggested some therapies. She asked the young students to pledge not to be diverted by any wrong company and to always uphold the esteem of their faith and their family.
At the end of the informative and beneficial session, discussion, the Principal of Afro-Asian Institute Dr. Muhammad Irfan Bashir and Vice-Principal Sir Abid presented the respected Guest Ms. Sibgha, Health Patron Ms. Rabia & Organizer Ms. Nida (Manager of Administration) with institute souvenir.
