Since the 1st Wave of COVID-19 pandemic, physical classes, recreational activities and social events were suspended for quite a long time. This posed serious mental, physical and emotional upheavals among the population. As soon as the Government announced the holding of physical classes (on campus), the administration of Afro-Asian Institute decided to plan student extra-curricular activities and get-together meetings while observing the SOPs of COVID-19. On June 28th, 2021, our esteemed students were given a huge welcome on campus through an amazing and joyful event labelled as “Colours of Summer” function. Similarly, in order to galvanize the passion and enthusiasm for cricket amongst our youngsters, the Afro-Asian Institute organised live-screening of Pakistan v/s New Zealand cricket matches in October, 2021. The month of November came up with the most awaited event of the Year 2021. The Annual Gala was organised at Al-Hamra Arts & Council on November 10th, 2021. It was the most enthralling event with a thriving get-together marked by full house participation of over a thousand students. There were wonderful and entrancing performances by the students of Arts & Dramatics, Music & Literary Societies that left the audience spellbound throughout the event. Organised for the very first time in the history of our Institute, another delightful event that took place by the end of November, 2021 was the “Qawali Night”. The administration, management, faculty and students, were mesmerized with the melodious Qawalis and with a sumptuous dinner followed by a special segment of the main Qawali Group that was specially arranged by the management for the enthralled audience and Guest of Honour.
