Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT)
The BS MLT programme ensures that graduates are instilled with the fundamental concepts and techniques required to excel in the field of MLT. The program’s specific specialties include the development of necessary skills to become productive and ethical contributors to scientific research and diagnostic fields. Graduates are prepared for careers in health care as well as post-graduate and professional programmes at other institutions.

Overview
The Bachelor of Science in Medical Lab Technology (BS-MLT) programme is a four-year degree programme that provides students with knowledge and skills in lab tests used in disease detection, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment. The programme includes general education subjects (such as English, mathematics, and statistics) as well as professional subjects (such as clinical Chemistry, Microbiology and Parasitology, Hematology, Blood Banking and Immunology & Serology etc).

Presently, laboratory technologist are working in various government and private institutes, hospitals, national and international organizations and imparting a substantial role in providing state of the art laboratory services which can be matched with any good laboratory practice being provided by highly developed countries all around the globe to their esteemed patients. Medical laboratory technologists have been consistently engaged in management of pathology laboratories and clinical research, epidemiology as well as national and international infectious diseases control programmes like TB, HIV, Hepatitis, Polio Eradication, and COVID-19 surveillance programmes.
Program Learning Outcomes
- Learn and apply theory and techniques in the medical pathology laboratory.
- Avoid problems pertaining to collecting, transporting, handling and conducting tests on laboratory samples
- Confidently and correctly carry out all the benchwork required for diagnostic tests in various disciplines of pathology.
- Demonstrate proper handling and preventative maintenance of instruments.
- Convey timely laboratory results to the clinicians
- Perform and monitor quality control in the laboratory.
- Assist the consultants in research.
- Demonstrate ethical behavior and decision-making.
